This past year I started hosting a group which meets on Friday mornings at 8 am ET, focusing on group and team programming, and by extension, coaching business building. It's call the Learning Lab and Design Studio and we'll be continuing in 2017 in a new format of two Friday morning calls a month starting on January 13th at 8 am ET. It's a mix of both learning and design for coaches. A place to gain valuable tools and resources, but also a place which encourages you to roll up your sleeves and get your hands "dirty" or into action - whether it's designing a new program, or moving the marketing forward with your business.
This year we've focused on a range of pertinent topics from working around goals, and vision, metaphors to undertaking design and vision sprints and hacks.
Topics planned for 2017 include:
Creating your 2017 roadmap
Building Your Toolkit
Marketing
Accountability
Designing your own on-demand programming
Group members have full access to the resources that are only available in the lab, which includes a new monthly article and a new template to use in your work.
As today's goodie, I wanted to make available a couple of these resources to you,
Here are the links to the two goodies I wanted to make avaialbe:
A social media worksheet you may want to use in planning your social media focus for 2017. Click here to view.
A link into the most recent call I did on the top 10 tools of 2016 and questions I received about group and team coaching. Click here to view this 45 minute lecture call.
I hope that you will join me starting January 13th at 8am ET for
the two calls a month. Cost for the 2017 programming will be $149/month
or $1250 US for the year. Click here to learn more and reserve your spot. Registration links at the end of the page - you can also add on a block of individual coaching to your package at a reduced rate. Download a 2017 brochure here.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Working With Strengths - Day 6 of the 12 Days of Holidays
One area many of us find ourselves working around as coaches is the area of strengths. Earlier this
week I shared my love of incorporating different visual cards into my work with groups and teams. Today I wanted to share with you one of the facilitated activities which makes up the 40 Ways to Work with Visual Cards e-manual. This activity includes instructions on how to work with groups on Strengths. You can download it here. You'll be taken to a free download which is part of our newest on-demand bundle - The 2017 Kickstart Your Coaching Business.
Research from the Gallup organization shows that teams who are able to leverage their strengths are 12.5% more productive and individuals can be six times more engaged.
Coaching as a modality is also strengths-focused. It doesn't mean that we shy away from having clients explore weaknesses or growth edges, but it does mean that we start from strengths, or lead from that place.
What are the different activities you use to work with strengths? What new activities do you want to add to your toolbox for 2017? Be sure to take a look here at the blog at the different activities we cover. I also dedicate one week to focusing on different resources during the Group Coaching Essentials teleseminar which will be starting again on Friday January 13th. Hope that you'll join us to deepen your toolbox next year!
Didn't catch the first five days of the 12 Days of Holidays this year? Check them out here.
Best wishes,
Jennifer

Day 5 of the 12 Days of Holidays: Mentor Coach Resources
Fridays are usually my busiest day for programming with coaches. It's fitting that today's resource is
all about mentor coaching. As coaches it is important that we continue to develop our skill set, and sharpen our skills. Mentor coaching provides a vehicle for both of these.
Curious about how to find a great mentor coach? Check out this 2012 article I wrote for Choice Magazine entitled Mentor Coaching: Developing Your Muscle and Refining Your Craft.
Needing to complete your mentor coaching hours during 2017? I hope that you will consider joining me for a Mentor Coaching Group (10 hours of mentor coaching for ACC/PCC meeting for 7 hours of group calls, and 3 hours of individual coaching). We've got 2 groups starting January 13th (9-10 am ET and 12 - 1pm ET)
If you've missed any of the goodies this week in days 1 - 4 of the 2016 12 Days of Holidays, check them out here.
Have a great weekend,

Day 4 of 12 Days of Holidays: Team Vs Group Coaching
I often get asked, "What's the difference between Team and Group Coaching?" This is the focus of Day 4 of the 12 Days of Holidays series.
There are some important and subtle differences in terms of the stance we take as a coach when working with a group of individuals versus a team (virtual, intact, project team). If you haven't read my Choice magazine article from a few years ago on the topic of group and team coaching I would encourage you to download it and read it now.
Some key differences between team and group coaching which are important to keep in mind include the:

Some key differences between team and group coaching which are important to keep in mind include the:
- Role of relationships, power and leadership
- The lifecycle of the grouping - does the grouping start and end with the coach (mostly the case of group coaching) or is the coach coming in to work with an entity that continues in its lifecycle (mostly in the case of team coaching)
- Roles that exist
- Whether there is a shared purpose and/or vision amongst the grouping
- Stance and orientation of the coach
- Whether we are holding the entity as a system or as a collection of individuals

Day 3 - 12 Days: Working With Visual Cards
One of my favorite tools in working with groups and teams is bringing in visual cards. Given that I work with many multi-national groups,
English is not always the first language. Visuals create a new way to connect across the group. Visuals often spark deeper level of individual insights. Many of you are familiar with the Conversation Sparker Cards I launched back in 2014. This past year we made available a French series for coaches who work with francophone clients. 22 of the 70 Conversation Sparker cards are questions.
There are a variety of different ways be can use visual cards. Consider the opportunities:
a. As a way to open the conversation
b. As a way to close a session with a group
c. As a creative sparker for new ideas when a group is stuck or when you need a little something different
d. When you are working with a team on visioning
e. When you are working with business owners on innovation
f. When you are undertaking a strategic planning session
Many of you viewed my 2015 blab on different ways to work with visual cards over at our YouTube channel. You can view that 30 min call here.
During 2015 I created the 40 Ways to Work with Visual Cards E-Manual, which includes facilitated instructions
for more than 40 different ways to incorporate your favorite visual deck in an
upcoming workshop, retreat, or virtual program. The 40 Ways E-manual
is a digital download and includes 40 different activities you can
facilitate, along with five worksheets you can reproduce
and bring into your session. Cost is $40 US. Pick up your copy here.

Day 2 -12 Days of Holidays: Year End Group and Team Program Goodies: Marketing tips
Welcome back to Day 2 of the 12 Days of Holidays, a daily dose of year -end goodies for those who are leading group and team programs. Yesterday, I shared a link to my 13th annual year-end group programs call. Today's goodie is a link to a digital chapter on Marketing Tips for Your Team and Group Coaching.Since 2006, I've been leading the Group Coaching Essentials teleseminar, an ICF-CCE approved program supporting coaches who want to lead their own group and team coaching work. One of the #1 questions I receive each year is how do I fill my groups? Having voices on the line is a critical part of the group experience.
I hope that the digital chapter provides you with some more ideas on what might work for you. Key to marketing is consistent action, as well as tracking your results. Build in some touch points to check in what you notice around the results you are getting. Download the Marketing Tips for Your Team and Group Coaching Programs here. (use code 4411 if prompted). If you are looking for more on this I hope you may check out the new 2017 Kickstart Your Coaching Bundle which includes 3 courses geared to marketing and business development.

12 days of holidays - Day 1 Group and Team Program Goodies
As we start to wind down the business year of 2016 in lead up to the holidays, I wanted to resuscitate an older tradition I've undertaken over the last decade a couple of times - the 12 days of holidays series. Each day up to December 23rd I'll be posting a link to a different resource or special I think you might be able to benefit from when pulling together your own group and team programs - workshops, retreats, group and team coaching, webinars etc. I hope that you will also share these with your friends and colleagues!Today is day 1 of 12 and I'm including a link to the 13th Annual Year End Group and Team Programs call I held on Friday December 9th. In this year's call I took a look back at some of the key themes and trends in group and team programing this past year, and looked ahead to three possibilities which will likely impact our work with groups and teams during 2017. You can view this video online at our EffectiveGroupCoach YouTube Channel, or view it here. Run time is 45 minutes:
Enjoy! I'm excited about the resources and specials I will be sharing before December 23rd and I hope that you will enjoy them too. Stay tuned for tomorrow's goodie. It is related to the #1 question I received about groups this year.
Best wishes,
Jennifer
