Marketing Downloads for Coaches - 12 Days of Celebrations - Day 8

I know that marketing is something that coaches often find distasteful

yet it's an essential part of business success. This is one of the many topics we explore at the Coaching Biz Growth Lab, a fun annual group which meets bi-weekly throughout the year. We explore all things marketing and business development as it relates to building a coaching business, whether you are working with clients 1-1, group or team.

Given the number of coaches who are focusing on marketing and planning at this time of year, I thought it would be valuable to share a couple of marketing resources for you:

#1 - Marketing One Pager - Use this quick worksheet (originally from the 21 for 21 Sprints) to explore the ins and outs of one of your offers for 2023. You might use it to think about a new program, a book, an offer  Download it over at the CGBL information page.

#2 - 101 Marketing Ideas for Group and Team Programs - Stuck on how to get the word out? Use this to spur on some "Daily Steps + Consistent Action to generate MOMENTUM" (note the tagline from Coaching Business Builder (pick up digital copy of this resource for 2023 - Purchase and Download today for $29 US)

You'll also find the 101 Marketing Ideas over at the CGBL Information page.

We kick off the new year together on December 31st for a special CGBL 2023 kick off call  - hope you will consider joining us. The discounted rate ends this Friday December 23rd for annual support rate of $2497 US or 12 installments of $250 US (what else can you get for that amount every month with today's shrinkflation). I hope you will consider joining us to focus on your business development during 2023. Check out the 2023 CGBL schedule OR Register now.

My top 5 tips for marketing for 2023:

#1 - Make a list of what you want to do to get the word out. Brainstorm. Think big.

#2 - Leverage your strengths. As we discuss in Group Coaching Essentials, leveraging your strengths is key. Not sure about this? Take the TEam and Group Coaching Superpower Quiz - it will give you some ideas of your natural "go to" as a coach. It only takes 2 minutes - https://bit.ly/gtcoachingsuperpower.

#3 - Think about what your clients WANT and PREFER. What are they looking for? What is going to support them? Where are they congregating?

#4 - Get out and have conversations. Whether we are virtual or physical, getting out for a conversation is critical for business success. What speaking you doing? What 1-1s are you hosting? Book a call with me or my team to talk about what kind of conversations you might have.

#5 - Create a plan. Whether you use the content pages or quarterly planners in Coaching Business Builder, or your own, create a plan. Make it visible. Make it consistent.

Enjoy the journey and be sure to check out the downloads -- there are some at the side of the CGBL program page, and some at the bottom. Hope you use them!

Jennifer

Group Coaching Core Essentials #16 - What Do Your Clients Want, Need and Prefer?

Similar to 1-1 coaching, group coaching is also customer-centric. Just as you co-create the relationship alliance and invite

your client to come up with a topic they want to explore in each coaching session to fulfill their goals from the coaching relationship; group coaching does this too.

Integrating your customer's needs, wants, and preferences in all program elements, including program logistics and delivery model, design, marketing strategy, and sales. Doing so will attract the clients you want in your program and contribute to achieving your business goals and success.

Principle: Know what your clients want, need, and prefer.

Action: Everything you do comes from this understanding of wants, needs, and preferences. Immersing yourself in their "world reality" will impact your program's design, delivery, marketing, and success.

Suppose you are adding group coaching as an additional offering to your existing client base. Consider reviewing your current client base and identify overlapping needs, wants, and preferences that lend to creating a group program and repurposing common themes in a group program offered at a different price than individual coaching. Alternatively, if you are pivoting to a new topic or demographic, reach out to people who may be a good fit and request an opportunity to have a conversation for information/research-gathering purposes.

Use this week to review any of the following questions:

      1. How customer or client centric is my 1-1 coaching program?

For example, Does the copy focus on you (what you do) or share the opportunity for your client (based on their challenges or desires)? Re. Logistics, is it based on when you want to work without considering your potential buyer's availability and schedule? Do your rates reflect what you want to earn even if your ideal client(s) can't afford your rates as they have young children and have to invest their money in multiple places?

  1. Identify what your client's needs are.

For example, what motivates your client to take action? Need for a community? Or possibly accountability? What is the price point my participant can pay? What factors do they consider when spending money? Are they budget-sensitive or not?

  1. Identify what your client's wants are.

For example, do they prefer group coaching sessions during the daytime vs. the evening? Or do they choose live in-person sessions over virtual sessions? Or do they like a full-day (6-hour) offsite event more than biweekly 60-minute sessions for six weeks?

  1. Identify what your client's preferences are.

For example, do your clients want access to you for some individual coaching during the group program?

  1. What changes can you make in your program design and ensure your client's voice is included?

I invite you to invest some time this week to ensure you integrate your clients' voices (needs, wants, and preferences) in various elements of your group coaching program.

Have a great week,

Evana and Jennifer

10 Ways to Market Group Coaching - Countdown to 2020 - Day 6

In marketing, we often say that it takes 7-10 touchpoints before a marketing message is heard, let alone acted on. Regular communication and focus on marketing is important in a coaching business at all stages.
This is particularly true when coaching groups, where attracting a number of clients is critical.

There are many different ways we can be promoting our services, which is one part of the marketing message.

As I write in Coaching Business Builder, we may choose from any of these nine marketing vehicles:
Speaking
Blogging
Podcasting
Networking
Article Writing
Product Development
Lunch and Learns
Associations
Trade Shows and Conferences

and a final one which is often overlooked is referrals.

Each of these provide a different type of outreach and conversation. Where do your potential clients congregate? What will capture their attention

Marketing is not just about choosing the appropriate channel. It's also about:
  • Adding value to the clients you are working with. What are they looking for? What solutions are they wanting?
  • Being consistent - Instead of doing something just once, could you do it multiple times. For example, planning and delivering weekly blog posts during the next year on a Tuesday instead of haphazardly putting out marketing messages
  • Following up with a conversation - coaching is a high touch, intimate conversation space. What conversations are important to get into?
Marketing can be an important focus for people at all stages of their business development. For more on this topic check out these resources:
The Marketing Tags here at the Group Coaching Ins and Outs blog

For an extended focus during 2020, check out the Coaching Biz Growth Lab which meets throughout the year on Fridays.

January 1st I'll also be launching the 60 Day Coaching Business Builder Accelerator where we'll be focusing on taking 60 days of consistent action around our business. I'm super excited about this new on-demand and live program. I hope that you'll join us - early bird rate on until Monday December 23rd.

Questions to consider:
What do you have planned around marketing next year?
What's going to help you be consistent, adding value and in conversation with your clients?
Note down 3-5 core themes you want to explore in your marketing (whether it's speaking, podcasting, writing or connecting). Take a few minutes to mindmap your ideas.

With best wishes,
Jennifer

Day 7 of 12 of the Holiday Goodies - The Learning Lab and Design Studio

This past year I started hosting a group which meets on Friday mornings at 8 am ET, focusing on group and team programming, and by extension, coaching business building. It's call the Learning Lab and Design Studio and we'll be continuing in 2017 in a new format of two Friday morning calls a month starting on January 13th at 8 am ET. It's a mix of both learning and design for coaches. A place to gain valuable tools and resources, but also a place which encourages you to roll up your sleeves and get your hands "dirty" or into action  - whether it's designing a new program, or moving the marketing forward with your business.

This year we've focused on a range of pertinent topics from working around goals, and vision, metaphors to undertaking design and vision sprints and hacks.

Topics planned for 2017 include:
Creating your 2017 roadmap
Building Your Toolkit
Marketing
Accountability
Designing your own on-demand programming

Group members have full access to the resources that are only available in the lab, which includes a new monthly article and a new template to use in your work.

As today's goodie, I wanted to make available a couple of these resources to you,

Here are the links to the two goodies I wanted to make avaialbe:
A social media worksheet you may want to use in planning your social media focus for 2017. Click here to view.
A link into the most recent call I did on the top 10 tools of 2016 and questions I received about group and team coaching. Click here to view this 45 minute lecture call.

I hope that you will join me starting January 13th at 8am ET for the two calls a month. Cost for the 2017 programming will be $149/month or $1250 US for the year. Click here to learn more and reserve your spot. Registration links at the end of the page - you can also add on a block of individual coaching to your package at a reduced rate.
